For those inclined to look beyond the immediate, the area around the Moosmair reveals a rich interplay of history, culture and the people who have shaped this region, opening up new perspectives.
High above Campo Tures, the venerable Castello di Tures stands as a silent witness to the valley’s history. Walls, courtyards and historic rooms bear witness to centuries of power, daily life and change. As you wander through, the view opens not only onto the valley, but also onto a sense of the time when people lived, worked and perhaps even fought here.
At the far end of Valle Aurina, the South Tyrol Museum of Mining awaits. Where ore was extracted for centuries, the museum now offers insight into the demanding realities of life underground. Tunnels, tools and original working spaces offer insight into a life shaped by darkness, cold and physical labour.
A visit takes you deep into the mountain – and into the history of a region that for centuries depended on mining.
Brunico, the only town in Val Pusteria, combines urban life with the rhythms of the Alps. The old town, with its narrow streets, cafés and shops, invites you to linger, while museums and galleries add cultural depth. In the Advent season, Brunico takes on a festive charm: its Christmas market fills the streets with light, craftsmanship and local traditions – calm, intimate and atmospheric.
Sometimes, very little is needed: movement, breath and a place of quiet. Yoga offers a calm and welcome counterbalance to time spent in the mountains. A moment for body and breath, for stretching, focus and inner balance – gently attuned to the surroundings and the rhythm of the hotel.
Whether outdoors in the fresh air or indoors, quiet and focused, yoga complements your stay in an understated way, creating space for mindful time with yourself.
Whether photography, folk culture or contemporary interpretations of Alpine history, the museums in Valle Aurina and around Brunico reveal the many layers of this region. Small, charming and easily combined with a day trip or city stroll.
The famous mountaineer Hans Kammerlander has been associated with the Moosmair all his life. Not as a figurehead, but as a person who belongs here in Acereto. The one who lives here – and who with a bit of luck you might even encounter in the bar.
By the way: the challenging via ferrata that bears his name is located just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel and leads directly out into the mountain world that shaped him.
